Bryden Wood co-author the DfMA Overlay for RIBA's Plan of Work

Bryden Wood were recently asked by the Royal Institute of British Architects' (RIBA) to co-author the 'Designing for Manufacture and Assembly' Overlay to their Plan of Work.

The 'Overlay' documents are published to extend the Plan of Work into areas which have become vital for architects to understand in order to meet clients' needs in an evolving industry. The fact that there have only been two previous Overlays - 'BIM' (published in 2012) and 'Green' (relating to sustainable design and published in 2011) - gives an indication of the importance of DfMA to the industry.

RIBA state that this new guide "will provide an essential driver for the industry to take the next evolutionary step towards 'assembly' rather than 'construction'."

The DfMA Overlay was formally launched at an event at RIBA in September.

The Overlay can be downloaded here.
