Equinix MD3, Data Center Design by Bryden Wood

The emergence of the hyperscale data centre and the pressure to reduce $ per MW to service the rapidly increasing cloud computing, ecommerce and social media market has led Bryden Wood to pioneer a new approach to data centre design and construction.

We have been helping to deliver value-driven data centres for the last 25 years where facilities are designed to optimise the deployment of their servers as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Our innovative, interdisciplinary approach to data centre design delivers exceptional results for global co-location and hyperscale data centre clients, including:

• 30-40% reduction in capital build cost per KW
• 40% increase in IT yield/sqm.

Our Approach

With an integrated design approach to problems, Bryden Wood brings together the best in engineering, architecture, and digital technologies to transform the client data centre design approach.

- Enhanced efficiency:

  • We work to deliver cost-optimised designs grounded in solid engineering
    principles.

- Pioneers of construction:

  • We leverage our DfMA expertise across multiple sectors for faster
    construction and reduced risk.

- Scalability made simple:

  • Our modular, repeatable DfMA design approach ensures maximum flexibility
for the end client with cost/time benefits.

Why us?

We’ve worked closely with the biggest names in the hyperscale business for a number of years and have an intimate understanding of what drives their businesses.

Efficient design of both the white space and supporting technical equipment, along with our focus on close coupling systems, reduces distribution costs and avoids wasted space.

We’ve created masterplans for hundreds of MWs of facilities around the world and
understand the importance of maximising yield from a prospective site. Carefully designed structures, created to be in sync with the white space cooling and power distribution systems they support, enable us to drive down floor-to-floor heights. This maximises the number of storeys the site can deliver, which means maximum MW yield.

We’re currently working on live projects in Ireland, UK, Spain, Netherlands, Belgium and Italy, with feasibility studies either completed or underway in Helsinki, Frankfurt, Zurich, Warsaw, Bogota, Dubai and Dallas.
