Bryden Wood are seeking a Project Architect to join our team to work on a series of new projects including a new central London healthcare project, several medium to large scale residential schemes in London, a new aviation projects and a new pharmaceutical project. Therefore, the ideal candidate would have a diverse experience background in education, residential healthcare and aviation.

Key Requirements:

Education:

Architectural degree/masters with Part 3 qualification or equivalent from an accredited University

Approach

• Understand the benefits of working as part of an integrated design team

• Understand when to consult the project lead/job runner on design and project management issues and promptly identify issues if they are discovered

• Be motivated to get involved and contribute to all aspects of the design process

• Co-operate, coordinate and collaborate with the wider design team (both internally with other disciplines and externally with clients)

• Seek to understand projects/work undertaken and learn from experience by transferring knowledge from one scenario to another

• Communicate clearly and respectfully with all members of the office, clients and external consultants/suppliers

• Ability to work well under pressure, and meet deadlines efficiently

Overall Responsibilities

• Manage a small project, or part of a larger project

• Assist the Associate / Runner in any kind of project, at all stages of the design or construction process. This includes (but is not limited to):

• Produce briefing, feasibility and building design information

• Prepare models, drawings, reports and other documents relating to the design in accordance with the Bryden Wood standards

• Undertake design coordination the other disciplines

• Assist with the preparation of planning and building control applications and design risk assessments

• Assist with preparing a BEP for use by the team

• Assist in preparing tender applications, presentations and visualisations

• Assist in preparing fee bids, tender applications and marketing material

• Coordinate and collaborate with the other disciplines, sub-consultants and the wider design team

• Prepare for and attend meetings in support of the Project Architect / Job Runner, and communicate clearly and politely with the client/contractor/externals

• Liaise with appropriate authorities when producing documentation for statutory approval

• Assist with the document control role for projects (where required)

• Be competent digitally using Revit, Navisworks and Adobe Creative Cloud, as well as other software whilst complying with the Bryden Wood BIM standards

• Be aware of the significance of model quality and be precise with modelling and with data entry

• Oversee, lead and support the work of Part 1 and Part 2 Architectural Assistants

Understanding

• Understand the role of the Project Architect in the building design and construction industry

• Understand the constraints around the construction industry including planning and building regulations

• Have a good understanding of the Building Regulations and the British Standards

• Understand and able to manage Health & Safety and risk in construction

• Understand how to appoint contractors and the different contractual options

• Understand the role of the Principle Designer within the design and construction process

• Understand the UK Legal Framework

• Understand Risk in design, Insurance and Dispute Resolution

• Have a thorough knowledge of and adhere to the Bryden Wood BIM standards

• Have a thorough knowledge of and adhere to the Bryden Wood Quality Management system, QA procedures and standards
