We are looking for highly motivated, skilled applicants with experience in XR and app development to join our 'CreativeTechnologies’ team at Bryden Wood.

'CreativeTechnologies’ is a group of architects and engineers, with specialisms in computational design, working on topics that includes algorithmic design + simulation, mathematical modelling, geo spatial + big data analytics, connected tech, robotics + manufacture and XR + interaction. We deliver digital workflows and cutting edge applications across a diverse range of projects and sectors within the field of architecture and engineering and our goal is to push the boundaries of interactive data-driven design in the construction industry.

Successful applicants will join our dedicated XR team and whilst specific aspects will be dependent on experience it will involve the following activities;

  • Lead/ support the design of XRapps for VR, AR, web and mobile)(including storyboarding, client communication and documentation)
  • Lead/ support the development of a range of XRapps
  • Contribute to the development of the Creative Technologies approach to XR and other associated technologies
  • Collaborate with other Creative Technology team members to develop workflows and functionality

Successful applicants will hold a post-graduate qualification in Interactive Design, Computational Design, Game Development or similar.

Essential skills:

  • Demonstrable experience of C# development within Unity game engine environment
  • Strong understanding of design for XR
  • Strong understanding of VR and AR hardware (e.g. Vive, Hololens)
  • Knowledge of Unity development for web
  • Knowledge of Unity development for mobile platforms (i.e. iOS, Android)
  • Experience of using multiple content sources within Unity development (e.g. geometry and data)
  • Experience using source control with Git (or similar)

Additionally, an advantage will be given to candidates that have experience of some (or all) of the following:

  • Python
  • Web development (e.g. JavaScript, 3JS, A-Frame)
  • Database Technologies (e.g. NoSQL)
  • Visual Programming (e.g. Grasshopper, Dynamo, node-RED)

A background in the Architecture, Engineering or Construction sector is not essential for this role, but enthusiasm for and willingness to engage in spatial design practice is encouraged.
