Adam Jordan, Director, Bryden Wood Singapore, presented at the 7th Annual Modular and Precast Construction Conference: ‘Modern Methods of Construction, which was held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 24 – 26 July. The conference was divided into four streams exploring the ongoing development of prefabrication through four related aspects: offsite construction, design and engineering, project management and manufacturing.
Adam was invited to give a presentation as part of the Design and Engineering workstream. He provided insights into Bryden Wood’s experience in successfully applying Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) principles. The presentation, “Learning from Manufacturing: a platform-based approach to prefabrication” explored some of the concepts that Bryden Wood has recently developed with Digital Built Britain. Adam referenced some of Bryden Wood’s recent reports on this subject including “Platforms: Bridging the gap between construction + manufacturing”. The conference was focused on identifying ways to make construction better performing in terms of quality, time and labour, and all of these aspects were explored in Adam’s presentation with reference to Bryden Wood case studies. The conference was well attended by a range of industry stakeholders from the Asia Pacific region and further afield.
