Bryden Wood partner UK Department for International Trade (DIT) to support the development of BIM and DfMA in UK and Singapore

Bryden Wood recently supported the UK Department for International Trade (DIT) in arranging the inaugural UK / Singapore BIM and DfMA Knowledge Exchange. The exchange was held at Eden Hall, the residence of the UK High Commissioner to Singapore, on 23rd August 2017. It is envisaged that this will become a series of events where industry representatives from the UK and Singapore will collaborate to share their experiences to support the development of BIM and DfMA in both countries. The exchange was supported by BEIS (the UK Department of Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy) and attended by MP Sajid Javid, the UK Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government. Attendees also represented a range of companies from the UK and Singapore as well as Singapore government institutions including BCA (Building and Construction Authority), MOH (Ministry of Health) and HDB (Housing and Development Board).

Bryden Wood helped shape the agenda for the exchange which covered three topics: "Smarter Design with BIM and DfMA", "Achieving Higher Productivity through BIM: the Future of Construction", and "Integrated Building Systems: Beyond Design and Construction". Adam Jordan from Bryden Wood also gave a presentation entitled "Integrated Asset Delivery: Market Driven Solutions for our Future Built Environment" which touched on some of the work Bryden Wood has recently been doing with BEIS and Digital Built Britain. Other presenters included the Singapore companies Ong&Ong and Teambuild and the UK companies Arup, Gammon and Mott MacDonald (who also featured Bryden Wood in their presentation, specifically the Priority School Building Programme).

The exchange was a great success and the feedback received from attendees as well as DIT was very positive. It is hoped that the UK and Singapore will collaborate much more closely together in the future, as both countries strive to improve construction productivity and deliver more successful and innovative projects.
