Bryden Wood's Churchwood Gardens in south east London has been shortlisted for this year's Housing Design Awards.

Churchwood Gardens provides 71 homes on a high-density landlocked hillside. The development uses natural light, landscaled gardens and green wildflower meadow roofs to prioritise the residents’ connection to nature within the urban landscape. Playable spaces between the buildings allow children and adults to play in the nature of the city.

The mix of unit types promotes a diversity of residents, and units are purposefully built to the proportions of neighbouring homes, preserving original sightlines and privacy for both new and old occupants alike.

Developed by Loromah Estates and destined for private sector build-to-rent, we designed the scheme to the NHF’s good practice standards and London Plan requirements, with long-term quality and sustainability in mind. Long-lasting materials provide value and environmental impact.

Our complete entry is here, and the award winners will be announced in July.
