Our hospital design project for Circle Rehabilitation Hospital project in Birmingham has been Highly Commended in the Health and Wellbeing category at the AJ Architecture Awards 2021.

We worked as the healthcare architects and engineers on this pioneering rehabilitation hospital for Circle Health in Edgbaston, Birmingham, which opened in September 2020. The design of this hospital includes: five operating theatres, ten first stage recovery beds, 20 second stage recovery beds, 20 hospital bedrooms and 120 bedrooms for rehabilitation patients. It also has a comprehensive imaging department and a large physiotherapy capacity for elective care and rehabilitation services.

The pioneering healthcare facility was designed to a grid of four and eight metre spaces using our Platforms approach to design and construction (P-DfMA). By designing to the commonalities between spaces, construction can make use of a standardised ‘kit of parts’. This brings a wide variety of benefits, not least flexibility.
