See the work on the new Circle Health Hospital, which is by Bryden Wood’s multi-disciplinary team of architects and designers. The Edgbaston site is approximately 2km to the South of central Birmingham UK, and forms part of the new Edgbaston Medical Quarter (EMQ). The site is on the former BBC Pebble Mill office and TV studios, owned by Calthorpe Estates.
A key aspect of the design approach has been a form of ‘adaptive architecture’, which gives the client the ability to adapt the building as their needs change. This future-proofing makes this hospital highly adaptable and cost effective. This approach has meant that the incorporation of rehabilitation services into the scheme is made possible. This illustrates there is a need to provide spaces to be continuously adaptable to the future needs of healthcare requirements and technology.
