Great Western Studios

Great Western Studios provides affordable office and studio space to practitioners across the visual arts.

The individual studio spaces range in size from 250 sq ft plus. Good light is afforded by the internal glass atrium and all studios have services including integrated broadband and telephone systems, individual heating and ventilation systems. Alongside the studio spaces Great Western Studios also houses a cafe and gallery space.

Great Western Studios is another project which demonstrates that Bryden Wood can deliver the design of an affordable refurbishment and extension project with outstanding visual impact.

The building was laid out around a series of communal spaces, the most influential of which is the internal light well that allows natural light into the centre of the floor plate and the adjoining studios. The light well also creates a place to gather, interact and display art work.

This display area allows the individual occupiers of the studios to bring the character of their work into the communal spaces and therefore animate the building and spark interaction and discussion.
