Bryden Wood have been appointed as Executive Architects and Structural Engineers for Sugar House Island, a major new development in Stratford.
The first phase of this project comprises 400 apartments and townhouses on an industrial site in Stratford that has a rich history and is bounded by the River Lea and the Three Mills Wall River.
The overall scheme comprises 1,200 apartments, 58,000 square metres of offices and facilities for creative industries, plus a 300-bed hotel. The developer, Vastint, is seeking to take ‘this historic and near-derelict site and bring it revving back to life as an energy efficient, creatively designed, mixed use neighbourhood’.
Bryden Wood will be working alongside the design architects who are developing the concepts for the 4 separate plots, helping to maximise the opportunities for the adoption of Design for Manufacture and Assembly.
The project website can be found here.
Once the concept is fixed, we will be developing the technical design, using digital workflows and our Design for Manufacture and Assembly expertise to deliver what should be an innovative, sustainable and highly sought-after new neighbourhood. With proven experience in the delivery of structural systems and drawing on their multidisciplinary background, Bryden Wood have provided the strategy for structural design across all plots and are providing added value by advising on site wide strategy during the construction phasing.
